marvin 300(INDIO) – Legendary New York Jets and Florida State University Hall of Fame linebacker Marvin Jones was promoted today to the first-ever Director of Player Personnel of the four-time champion SoCal Coyotes non-profit sports leadership organization, headquartered in the Coachella Valley.

A Coyotes Advisory Board member, Jones immediately assumes his new role as Director of Player Personnel. He is now charged with player recruitment, evaluation and support to prepare the Coyotes for fall play in the vaunted Southern California Football League, which includes four teams ranked in the national Top 10. Currently Jones is evaluating players from the Coyotes Pac West spring roster, to determine who has earned the opportunity to return in the fall.

Jones coached most recently with the FXFL’s Brooklyn Bolts. He will draw on his relationships with NFL, CFL and national combines to discover and groom regional incoming Coyote talent.

Jones will collaborate directly with Coyotes head coach J David Miller and assistant head coach Shane Helms, VP Football Operations, matching prospects to coaching strategies. In addition, he will assist the coaching staff during August training camp, and manage new player orientation, which includes application and enforcement of the Coyotes strict Code of Conduct.

Jones is well known for his community outreach initiatives, which made him an NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year finalist during his years with the New York Jets. He was inducted into the Florida State University Hall of Fame and selected to the ACC 50th Anniversary Football Team.
