SoCal Coyote News EDUCATION, OPPORTUNITY = RENAISSANCE, COACH TELLS INDIAN WELLS ROTARY Posted on April 11, 2017 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr (INDIAN WELLS) – Youth are the Coachella Valley’s most precious renewable resource, a prominent coach and business leader told the Indian Wells Rotary Club this week. J David Miller, head coach of the SoCal Coyotes non-profit sports leadership organization, promised Rotary members that sweeping Coyote-led initiatives of education, employment and opportunity will lead a desert renaissance. “Every successful business owner must be equally committed to community,” said Miller, also a best-selling author and business strategist. “It’s not the splash. It’s the ripple. We all must pull the wagon, and be determined to make things better than they were when we got here.” Two particular people in attendance – and in agreement – were renowned developer Richard ‘Dick’ Oliphant and his wife Jan, whose personal philanthropy efforts have reshaped the Coachella Valley. Miller applauded corporate partner Flood Response, the valley’s most trusted restoration corporation, for its launch of ‘Above the Line’ middle school educational programs that “restore lives, restore dreams and restore the roar” of Coachella Valley youth. A Hall of Fame, three-time coach of the year, Miller recounted his first job as a teenage short-order cook, when he shared his own hopes and dreams with his Waffle House district manager. “My manager said, ‘Son, how do you plan to get there from here?'” Miller recalled. “It’s imperative that every visionary in the Coachella Valley provide our desert youth – regardless of race, color, creed or upbringing – a fair and equitable answer to that very question,” Miller said. “That question ignited a passion in me that resonates today,” he added, noting it ripples through a Coyote program that now touches 30,000 youth a year. FLOOD RESPONSE is the Southern California industry leader in restoring hope through disaster repair, structural drying, water and sewage extraction, mold remediation and fire/smoke damage.
