Coyote Spotlight PACK ATTACKS COYOTES LEAD ‘ABOVE THE LINE’ CAMPAIGN AT JEFFERSON MIDDLE SCHOOL Posted on November 7, 2016 0 Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on Google+ Share on Reddit Share on Pinterest Share on Linkedin Share on Tumblr (INDIO) – Fresh off an undefeated regular season, members of the SoCal Coyotes recently shared lessons in leadership and life to more than 700 students at their Second Annual Thomas Jefferson Middle School Leadership Expo. With candor and humility, players and coaches offered up the Coyotes ‘Above the Line’ leadership training to six consecutive packed auditoriums, encouraging students to earn trust, set clear standards, equip and inspire others, and meet those standards yourself. Team captain Gary Young led a pack of Coyotes that included running back Zavier Steward, offensive tackle Raphael Smiley and wide receiver Matt Arias. Head coach J David Miller introduced each of his players, who wove personal experiences throughout the curriculum. “Work to get better every day,” Young said. “Do it right the first time. Make your life count. You only get to do it once.” Each session was laced with highlights from the team’s remarkable 2016 undefeated season. SEVENTY PLAYERS EACH YEAR earn the distinction of ‘Defending the Shield’ in the uniform of the SoCal Coyotes. Many will earn a shot with NFL, CFL or AFL opportunities, or graduate into business careers. FAITH, FAMILY, FOOTBALL is the real mission of the Coyotes – and not surprisingly, something that dates back to the great Vince Lombardi in 1959. More than game tape. More than a weight room. More than a 40 time. The Coyote mission reaches far beyond the actual gridiron, deep into the development of young athletes as fathers, husbands, and men.
