RANCHO MIRAGE — Shy, he isn’t.

Saying simply, “My foursome will win, I guarantee it,” strapping 6-2, 230-pound Coyote defensive end Tyler Malone guaranteed victory today in the upcoming February 17 Coyote Classic, which will be held at Palm Desert Golf and Country Club. The shotgun tournament will feature an array of golf pros, celebrities and members of the Pac West champion Coyotes as they battle for bogeys and regal eagles.

1010-AM celebrity host Julie Buehler will interview Malone Tuesday at 12:15 p.m. on the weekly  ‘Paw Patrol’ segment of her show, which this week is broadcasting live from Super Bowl week in New Orleans.

A recent addition to the Coyotes, Malone, 23, is a former Yucaipa High star and played at Fullerton Community College. He joined the Coyotes “to help bring the desert another championship,”and is working his way up the depth chart.  A superb golfer, Malone has aced four PGA West courses and has been spotted at every course in the Inland Empire, Bullhead (AZ), and Oak Quarry.

“I need three more partners in my group that are serious about winning, and serious about letting it all hang out and have some fun,” says Malone. “If you want to take that big ol’ trophy home, sign up, make sure you’re in my foursome, and we’ll go give the other guys some golf lessons.”

What, Malone was asked, is the difference between a football Coyote and a Coyote on the course?

“A golfing Coyote,” grins the big defensive end, “is no threat to other humans.”

The 3-1 Coyotes are back on the field this Saturday at home at Desert Christian Academy at 7 p.m. against the Las Vegas Silver Cats.
