COYOTES, THE GENERAL TAKE THE FIELD WITH BASEBALL BUDDIES

(PALM DESERT) – The four-time champion SoCal Coyotes were back on the field at Freedom Park Monday night – but this time, for baseball, where players, coaches and staff joined Baseball Buddies Palm Desert – a unique baseball program for children with physical and/or emotional challenges.

Baseball Buddies400And to throw out the first pitch, they brought “The General” – the newCoyote mascot from corporate partner General Air Conditioning & Plumbing, the valley’s most committed civic leader and trusted contractor.

Coyotes linebacker Gary Young, former Player of the Year Cedric Cox, defensive end Valentin Perez and Hall of Fame head coach J David Miller joined other volunteers from around the desert to pair with young players throughout the game. Players and their buddies are able to bat, run the bases, pitch, and most importantly – be a part of a team.

“This program touches their lives in ways you can’t imagine,” says founder Lisa Manning, whose son, Conrad, started the program in 2007 so his special-needs brother could have a team experience. “Watching self-confidence blossom in these children is incredibly rewarding.”
