COYOTES RETURN FOR FIFTH YEAR AT YOUTH STRENGTH ACADEMY

0

(PALM DESERT) – For the fifth consecutive year, players and staff of the five-time champion SoCal Coyotes non-profit sports leadership organization will inspire, educate, and counsel the cadets of the Youth Strength Academy this June 20 at College of the Desert.

The Youth Strength Academy is a Riverside County Probation Department program that provides 80 youth a weeklong day-camp experience. Cadets learn teamwork, communication skills, positive interaction with adults and law enforcement and the importance of respect.

Coyote team captains also lead cadets in their annual game of intramural football.

Respect is one of those intangible qualities that is difficult to teach. Most of us grasp its importance and exhibit respect from personal experience, but not everyone has positive examples from which to draw and use.

At-risk youth are most vulnerable to this void in their lives, both in showing respect and earning it. There is also a parent component to foster greater parenting skills and strengthen families.

The youth who participate are eager to return and report better self-esteem which translates into better decision making. More tangible are the results for these youth who are on the cusp of entering the Juvenile Justice system.

More than 80 percent of academy participants never see the inside of a courtroom again, or have future negative contact with law enforcement.

Participation in the Youth Strength Academy is just one of numerous outreach programs of the SoCal Coyotes, who ‘Defend the Shield™’ through year-round ‘Faith, Family, Football™’ leadership programs, community service and sports initiatives.

Coyote players, coaches and senior executives share personal stories of how education, athletics and tenacity helped them overcome mountains of adversity to become college graduates and employable, trusted members of society.

The Coyotes award-winning ‘Above the Line’ program defines positive behavior as skillful, intentional and on-purpose, with zero blaming, complaining or excuses. Cadets will be provided season tickets to the Coyotes 2018 season.

America’s #1 Developmental Pro Football Program – a conveyor belt of character, competence and connection – mixes an array of audio-visuals, highlights, awards, music and curriculum to challenge, entertain, reward and ignite youth to new levels of leadership.

Curriculum from the Coachella Valley non-profit sports leadership organization includes the award-winning Coyote Leadership Quiz™, distributed annually across an array of youth platforms that cover all genders, ages, races, and socio-economic barriers.

Vantage Point Construction, Big Rock Golf & Pub and Unique Autobody are among the many corporate partners of the SoCal Coyotes that help sponsor Coyote community events.

In its seventh year and 11th season, the non-profit sports leadership organization touches 30,000 youth annually through clinics, camps, workshops and symposiums.

All Coyote programs encourage youth to engage in 60 minutes of daily reading. Custom Coyote curriculum typically covers the top (3) core subjects in schools – Math, English and Science, and is administered in-person by visiting role-model athletes, who engage and encourage students to read more and read better.

The Coyotes also nurture single fathers and father figures; extol the virtues of family values, positive fathering and family legacy; and mentor young men into trusted corporate citizens with employment opportunities and sustainable incomes.
