(INDIO) – The SoCal Coyotes and Flood Response continued their ‘Restore the Roar’ educational leadership program recently at Martin Van Buren Elementary School with an afternoon of encouragement to third, fourth and fifth graders.

The ‘Campus Invasion’ was promoted live by KKUU 92.7. The event was led by Coyote team captains and college graduates Jake Sheffield (Arizona State), Michael Karls (Midland University), and Gary Young (Bemidji State), who encouraged students to live a life that is ‘Above the Line.’

“The event was perfect, and the Coyote message is exactly what our students needed to hear,” said Maria Salazar, school counselor at Martin Van Buren, which was celebrating Career Day.

The Coyote captains shared personal stories of how education, athletics and tenacity helped them overcome mountains of adversity to become college graduates and employable, trusted members of society.

The Coyotes defined ‘Above the Line’ as skillful, intentional and on-purpose, with zero blaming, complaining or excuses. Eager students earned season tickets to the Coyotes 2017 season, which kicks off August 26 at Shadow Hills.
